Gonda. 12 shops were burnt in a fire caused by short circuit at Ward No. 15 Pathan Tola II Peepal Square of Nagar Panchayat Katra Bazaar. The people nearby controlled the fire with great effort. But by then all the goods kept in the shops were burnt to ashes. The loss in the fire is estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees.
At around 1.30 am on Wednesday night, shops selling fruits, vegetables and other goods caught fire due to a short circuit at Peepal intersection. Within no time the flames took a huge form.Meanwhile, due to fire in the egg shop, there was a massive explosion in the small gas cylinders kept there. Due to this, the upper part of the cylinder flew away and fell far away, it was fortunate that no one got hit by it. The local people somehow controlled the fire with great effort. Goods worth Rs 1 lakh were burnt in Ibrar's bangle shop in the fire. Medicines worth Rs 50 thousand in Ghulam Mohammad's medical store, Rs 5 lakh in Izhar's readymade clothes shop, Rs 4 lakh in Afzal Ansari's cosmetic shop, Rs 2 lakh in Bashir Footwear, Rs 1.25 lakh in Shahzad's egg shop, Bhagauti's fruits. Goods worth about Rs 1.5 lakh were burnt in his shop. Vinod's vegetables worth one lakh rupees, Anees's betel gumti worth Rs 20 thousand, Alli, Sagir, Puttan's vegetables worth Rs 50 thousand were burnt to ashes.
Local resident Shubham Gupta and people nearby told that the fire team reached the spot three hours after calling the fire control room. By then the fire had been extinguished with the water tanker that came from the Nagar Panchayat. It was not known whose shop caught fire first. Accountant Ramnath Thapa said that the loss in the fire is estimated to be around Rs 20 lakh. The report has been prepared and sent to higher officials.
